We have suggestions for the minimum number of days to spend at various locations. We can book one location or we can create a package of locations. Some parks and reserves are within an easy drive from one another, others are better connected through connector flights. We are more than happy to customize an itinerary that is perfect for you based on what you tell us when we talk. We will suggest and secure your lodging, as well as all in-Tanzania transportation, for a couple of days, a week or a month-long visit.  Check out our three 2023/2024 safari specials: Great Wildebeest Migration, Ngorongoro Crater & Ndutu Plains, and Serengeti.

Cheetah in Tarangire National Park

The Northern Circuit

The Northern Circuit is the most popular area for safari and is home to the Great Migration.

Arusha National Park- 1 day. A popular day-trip, Arusha National Park (ANAPA) is a gem of varied ecosystems and spectacular views of Mt. Meru, the dormant volcano that gives the region its name.

Tarangire National Park – 2-3 nights. Tarangire National Park has some of the highest population densities of elephants compared to anywhere else in Tanzania, and its sparse vegetation, strewn with baobab and acacia trees, makes it a beautiful and distinctive location to visit.

Mto wa Mbu/Karatu Town/ Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority – 2-3 nights. The jewel in Ngorongoro’s crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world.  About 12. 5 miles across, 1,968 feet deep and 116 square miles in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder.

Maasai Cultural Experience – Visit a Maasai boma and learn of their age-old pastoralist heritage.

Ndutu or Central Serengeti – 4 nights. Ndutu, the jewel in Ngorongoro’s western border with the Serengeti, is an outstanding wildlife location.  Serengeti National Park, a World Heritage Centre, is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world.  Unequalled, the Park can be divided into three sections.  The popular southern/central part (Seronera Valley) is what the Maasai call the “siring’it,” the land of endless plains.  It’s classic savannah, dotted with acacias and filled with wildlife.

Olduvai – optional – enroute to Southern Serengeti or Central Serengeti.  Over the last 30 years or so, it has become increasingly apparent that Africa is the “Cradle of Mankind.”  From Africa, they spread out to populate the rest of the Earth.  Remains of the earliest humans were found in Oldupai Gorge.

Western Serengeti – 3 nights – and/or Northern Serengeti – 3-4 nights (seasonal migration interest dependent). Serengeti National Park, a World Heritage Centre, is undoubtedly the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world.  Unequalled for its natural beauty and scientific value, it has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. It is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous.  More than a million wildebeest and about 400,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May and June.  So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge or crocodile-infested river can hold them back.

Kilimanjaro / Meru Climbs – although one of our guides has scaled Kilimanjaro over 30 times and has led many visitors up the mountain, he prefers the safari life now, but we will gladly organize a climb with our sister companies that are specialists on the mountain.

Chimpanzee in Mahale Mountains National Park

Western and Southern Circuit

Western and Southern Circuit are very different from the northern circuit and contain some very wild areas, remote wilderness, thick jungles and Tanzania’s chimpanzees.  The following options are all possible depending on length of stay, rainy season or camps closed for low season – usually between March – June.

Mahale Mountains National Park sits on the shores of Lake Tanganyika which borders the Congo and is home to some of Africa’s last remaining wild chimpanzees.  A population of more than 1000, they are habituated to human visitors due to the Japanese research project founded in 1960.

Katavi National Park offers unspoiled wildlife viewing in this less frequently visited national park, in a remote location far off the beaten path.  The national park is Africa at its most wild – unadulterated brush settings, spectacular views and rich wildlife.

Ruaha National Park is one of Tanzania’s few famous wilderness areas where one can have a rare experience of game viewing spiced up by the fascinating landscape.  The Park is rich with plants and animals, such as an abundance of Greater Kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros).  This Park boasts of her almost untouched and unexplored ecosystem, making visitors’ safari experience very unique.

Nyerere National Park north of the Rufiji River is Africa’s largest national park and a favorite game viewing area.  Covering 19,305 square miles it is among the largest protected areas in Africa and is relatively undisturbed by human impact.

Eastern Circuit

Eastern Circuit is a slice of tropical paradise.  It has some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, most extravagant diving spots and fantastic historical experiences.

Zanzibar, known as the Spice Island, the beautiful island on Africa’s east coast, is bursting with culture and history, seemingly at odds with its idyllic geography of white sand beaches with palms swaying lazily in the sea breeze.  Together, this makes Zanzibar a fabulous place to explore, as well as dream to relax and unwind.
